HackerRank, a platform for competitive programming challenges that has over 7 million users and corporate clients like LinkedIn, Booking.com, and Goldman Sachs, just published a report that brings more light on the topic.

‘2020 HackerRank Developer Skills Report’ is based on input from more than 116, 000 developers from 162 countries and besides the bits on learning, provides insights into the most popular languages, most trending developer skills, and the important forms of professional growth for a software engineer.
